Charity status / company registration
We are a not for profit organisation. We would like to apply for charity status, however we are not in a position to do so presently.
Membership
We work hard and are as proactive as we can be to raise our profile, however there are established surrogacy groups and it is proving difficult to be seen amongst the others.
Post pregnancy hysterectomy is a difficult area to be in. We have requested that hospitals give out our details to those affected, however most decline and often say to patients that it is so rare that they are on their own. Consequently people do not search for others in this position. Others are so ashamed of what has been done to them they will not seek out or speak about it to others (even close family members), even those in their position.
Membership is though a fee, and we have different levels of membership. We also acknowledge peoples contribution towards *a little wish* and fees may be reduced/wavered, for example if people undertaken media to *a little wish*s benefit.
Recognition
We have been working to be recognized for many years, especially as we may be the only website in the world that deals with post pregnancy hysterectomy.
We recently had representatives attend the HFEA Open day.
We recently had representatives attend the NID 2008. We were asked and we advertised this on our website, and were happy to do so. We have a review of the day on our message board, and a summary to go into our newsletter.

We have been recognised by the Donor Conception Network, who we have met at the above conferences.
Due to our high media profile we have been recognized and now have requests to speak on related issues in various media, including radio 5 live, for example Natalie Evens.
As mentioned previously even though we have been speaking out about fertility issues and being as pro-active as we can for the past two years we are still ‘kept out of the loop’. There was a press release issued on 13th May 2008, which called for urgent changes to surrogacy law. We had been working with Natalie Gamble, however we had no knowledge of and had not been included in any of the discussions with the other groups. This was a major disappointment.
*a little wish* has worked hard and will continue to do so to support its members, and the members in our community.
